I offer up this diary in response to another diary with the same title here.
So, where would Jesus drill ?
The answer is, sadly, quite obvious. He would have to drill somewhere. Most likely, it would be in places where oil is likely to be found... such as ANWR, and off the coast of California, and Florida. Jesus, after all, has quite a few things to do, and very many souls to save. He must maximize His time by drilling in places where he is likely to find oil. Rumor has it that he would know where to find the oil better than us humans.
Jesus would probably weep, while doing so ~ destroying his Father's creation is not a pleasant task.
But, what choice would Jesus have ?
He would not have any choice.
He was sent here to endure suffering on our behalf, so that we humans would not have to suffer again. He would suffer, while destroying His father's creation... but he was sent here to endure suffering on our behalf.
We have taken that to mean that we are now entitled to the good life. We have spoilt ourselves silly with 2 car garages, and trailer hitches with a boat on the rearend. We suffer when the summer temperature rises about 79 F, or when we have to walk to work. Jesus cannot see us suffer... after all, He was sent here to endure suffering on our behalf.
Oh, He would beg and plead with us to conserve... to forego the buttons that push our seat back to the desired positions on our cars... to drive smaller cars... or to bike to work. But He cannot force us. You see... we can do anything we want, and as long as we repent before the end of our days, He is forced to save our souls.
He would reason with us. He would point to examples where we have been able to cut our energy use in half... when we were forced to. But, He knows... He knows that humans will not change off their own volition. He knows that as soon as we are given an option, we stop conserving. He also knows that He cannot force us. After all, He was sent here to endure suffering on our behalf.
We humans are in a strong negotiating position here ~ Jesus has no good options. He would be forced to drill where the oil is, and He would be forced to satiate our hunger, and He would be forced to save our souls in the end.
